How to schedule an interview?

Whether you are inviting a candidate or setting up a session for a colleague, there are several options to schedule an interview.

  • Chrome Plugin - This is the best option if you need to embed the interview link into your ATS system, custom email or calendar invitation.

  • Invite by Email - Type in your candidate’s email address, and we will send them an automated invitation email.

  • Invite by Link - Invite participants directly from an existing session or your dashboard.

If you don’t have our plugin installed yet, it can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store.

Each Codeinterview session has a unique URL which allows participants to join. To create a new interview link:

  1. Click the Code Interview icon on your browser extension toolbar.

  2. (Optional) Enter the Interview name.

  3. Click Generate Interview Link.

  4. Copy Link.

  5. Paste into your Interview invitation message, ATS or calendar invite.

After you generate a new interview link, it will appear on your interview list when you log in to your account. To start the Interview as a facilitator, click ‘Run’ next to the session you just created. Using the URL without logging in will start the interview in the Candidate’s view which does not include Interviewer Notes and Templates.

Invite by Email/Link

If you are ready to start your session immediately, click the New Interview option on the left sidebar. This will open the pair programming environment.

To invite a Candidate from the session:

  1. Click on the Invite icon in the upper right corner.

  2. Here, you can either share the link with your candidate in a personalized invitation email, or via a standard email sent by Codeinterview.

If you are scheduling an interview ahead of time, select the option ‘Create Link for Later’ when creating the session on your dashboard. Here, you will be able to select the method of your invite.

Selecting the Invite via Email option will send out the following email to your candidate.

Inviting panelists

There are two ways additional panelists can participate in an interview.

  1. Candidate Mode - Follow the same steps as you would when inviting a candidate.

  2. Interviewer mode - Instruct team members to join the session via clicking the ‘Run’ button on their dashboard. This mode has Interviewer Notes, Templates and Code Replay enabled.

There is no limit on the number of participants in a session.

Need to cancel an interview?

  1. Select the checkbox next to the interview.

  2. Click Delete.

  3. If you wish, you may contact support for a refund for unused interviews.
